Compost Site
Compost Site Entrance Sticker
Residents interested in using the Compost Site must obtain a window sticker (no charge) from the City Clerk’s office on the 2nd floor of City Hall, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
Residents will receive only one sticker per address and the stickers do not expire. Random checks for proof of residency or city property ownership will be conducted at the site.
Compost Site Information
Non-Residents, businesses, and commercial lawn care businesses may also use the compost site for a $100 permit fee. The entire fee schedule is listed below:
City Resident
- Compost and mulch pick up at no cost when loading by hand
- $10 per cubic yard of material loaded by City staff. By appt only.
- $15 per cubic yard – two yard minimum delivered within city limits.
Businesses (Excluding Lawn Care Services) and Non-Residents
- Businesses (excluding lawn care services) and non-residents of the City can purchase a compost site tag for $100 per year
- Compost and mulch pick up at no cost when loading by hand
- $15 per cubic yard of material loaded by City staff. By appt only.
- $20 per cubic yard – two yard minimum. Delivery fee of $2.50 per mile from 231 Race St, Adrian MI.
Commercial Lawn Care Businesses
- Commercial landscape businesses can purchase a compost site tag for $100 per year. $20 per each site entry. To be billed in December.
- Compost and mulch pick up at no cost when loading by hand
- $15 per cubic yard of material loaded by City staff. By appt only.
- $20 per cubic yard – two yard minimum. Delivery fee of $2.50 per mile from 231 Race St, Adrian MI.
- Call ahead for drop off appointment.
Daily Pass
- Access to the compost site for a day. Use of materials and drop sites.

- Concrete must be clean. No bricks, wood, dirt, etc.

Every Tuesday and Saturday from May 2 to December 2 excluding Saturday, November 25.Tuesday - Noon to 7:00 PM
Saturdays - 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
The City Compost Site is located on Oakwood Avenue just past Oakwood Cemetery. Residents interested in using the Compost Site must obtain a permanent window sticker (one per address-stickers do not expire) from City Hall. The City Compost Site is available only to residents that pay for trash pick-up.
Accepted Yard Waste
Yard waste such as leaves, grass & garden debris are accepted at the site (no trash, building materials, etc. should be mixed in with the yard waste).
Yard waste in plastic bags must be de-bagged by the residents prior to leaving the compost site. Residents may drop off yard waste if placed in biodegradable paper bags. Residents are welcome to bring loose material, brush, and branches to dump on the designated piles.
When compost is available, it can be picked up at the compost site during Tuesday and Saturday hours. Compost delivery is also available for a fee and must be ordered from City Hall, first floor at the tellers window. The City of Adrian is not responsible for any damages caused by chemicals used to treat brush, grass, weeds, and other yard materials used to create mulch. Use of City generated mulch is at the users own risk and the user assumes all responsibility.
