Spring Yard Waste Collection

Spring yard waste collection will begin April 19th and carry through until April 30, 2021. The City will collect yard waste and bundled branches/ brush twice throughout the city limits within this time period. Yard waste must be placed at the curb no later than 7:00 AM on April 30, 2021. All yard waste shall be placed in biodegradable and/ or compostable paper bags and must not weigh more than fifty (50) pounds. Unapproved containers, including plastic bags, will not be picked up for collection.

Bundled branches and brush must meet the following guidelines:

  • Tied in bundles no longer than three (3) feet.
  • Bundles are placed parallel with the curb.
  • Bundles weigh less than fifty (50) pounds.

The City of Adrian Compost Site, located off of Oakwood Ave, will open on Saturday, May 1, 2021. Hours of operation are Tuesdays from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The site is now open to businesses, non-residents of Adrian, and commercial lawn care businesses. Please stop in at City Hall to receive your compost site tag. 

All yard waste deposited at the compost site in anything other than biodegradable and/ or compostable paper bags must be removed from the bag or container.

Non-Residents, businesses, and commercial lawn care businesses may also use the compost site for a $100 permit fee. The entire fee schedule is listed below:

City Resident

  • Top soil and mulch pick up at no cost when loading by hand
  • $20 per cubic yard of material (top soil, mulch, unsifted millings) loaded by City staff
  • $35 per cubic yard – two yard minimum (top soil, mulch, and unsifted millings) delivered within city limits

Businesses (Excluding Lawn Care Services) and Non-Residents

  • Businesses (excluding lawn care services) and non-residents of the City can purchase a compost site tag for $100 per year
  • Top soil and mulch pick up at no cost when loading by hand
  • $25 per cubic yard of material (top soil, mulch, unsifted millings) loaded by City staff (Must call ahead)
  • $50 per cubic yard – two yard minimum (top soil, mulch, and unsifted millings) delivered within five miles of city limits

Commercial Lawn Care Businesses

  • Commercial lawn care businesses can purchase a compost site tag for $100 per year. $20 per each site entry. Punch card system billed in June and December.
  • Top soil and mulch pick up at no cost when loading by hand
  • $25 per cubic yard of material (top soil, mulch, unsifted millings) loaded by City staff (Must call ahead)
  • $50 per cubic yard – two yard minimum (top soil, mulch, and unsifted millings) delivered within five miles of city limits
  • Call ahead for drop off appointment. Anything after 3:30 PM will need to be dropped off next business day.
