Shut Off Assistance

Options for accounts in Shut Off Status:
UPDATE: Michigan legislature passed a bill that was signed into law on 12/22/2020 suspending water shut off's due to non-payment through 3/31/2021.
Please note that unpaid water/sewer bills may still be transferred to property taxes at the end of May.

We understand that this pandemic has been difficult for many people, and we are committed to working with customers to develop individual payment plans as needed.

Request a Payment Plan by clicking here
  • Request a review of your account to determine if you qualify for a payment plan.
  • Requests may take up to 5 business days to process.
  • Submitting a request does not guarantee approval. Account must be a minimum of 90 days delinquent.
  • Paper applications are available at City Hall at the first floor teller windows.
Sign a One-Week Extension by clicking here
  • Available to anyone who has received a pink notice labeled SHUT OFF NOTICE at the top.
  • Submissions must be made no later than 11:59PM on the shut off due date listed on your notice. Submissions made after the shut off day listed on your notice will not be honored. 
  • This extension allows for the due date of the shut off to be extended by one week. 
  • Paper applications are available at City Hall at the first floor teller windows.

The City of Adrian Utilities Department is located on the first floor of the City Hall Building located at
135 E. Maumee Street in downtown Adrian next to the historic Croswell Opera House.

The Utilities Department is currently open by appointment only
