To The Qualified Electors Of The City Of Adrian, County Of Lenawee:
MADISON PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTION INFORMATION
The City of Adrian is currently accepting nominating petitions for the following seats that will be on the ballot for the November 2, 2021 election.   Petitions must be submitted with signatures.   

Mayor (2-year term)
City Commission Seat (4-year term)
City Commission Seat (4-year term)
City Commission Seat (4-year term)

The following terms will expire in 2021:
Mayor Angela Heath
City Commissioner Brad Watson
City Commissioner Gordon Gauss
City Commissioner Kelly Castleberry
 
The City Charter states that if valid petitions have been filed for no more than twice the number of candidates for the respective offices to be elected at the following regular city elections, then no primary shall be held with respect to such offices. (Section 3.7. Primary Elections)

2021 Election Dates are as follows

Primary Election:  August 3, 2021
General Election:  November 2, 2021 

PETITIONS
 
NOMINATING PETITIONS FOR MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION ARE NOW AVAILABLE AT THE CITY CLERK'S OFFICE.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PICK UP NOMINATING PETITIONS PLEASE CALL THE CITY CLERK'S OFFICE AT 517-264-4866.
 
PETITIONS ARE DUE BACK ON TUESDAY, APRIL 20, 2021 BY 4:00PM
 
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
 
MUST BE A REGISTERED VOTER IN THE CITY OF ADRIAN.
 
SHALL NOT BE IN DEFAULT TO THE CITY.
 
PETITIONS SHOULD BE COMPLETELY FILLED IN AT THE TOP BEFORE CIRCULATING FOR SIGNATURES.
 
A MINIMUM OF 50 VALID SIGNATURES BUT NO MORE THAN 100 MUST BE OBTAINED AND MUST BE FROM REGISTERED VOTERS IN THE CITY OF ADRIAN ONLY.
 
A CIRCULATOR IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE A REGISTERED VOTER IN THE STATE OF MICHIGAN. HOWEVER, IF THE CIRCULATOR IS NOT A REGISTERED VOTER IN MICHIGAN, THE NON-RESIDENT BOX IN THE CERTIFICATE OF CIRCULATOR MUST BE MARKED.  THE CIRCULATOR NEEDS TO SIGN AND DATE THE CERTIFICATE AFTER CIRCULATING THE PETITION.
 
PETITIONS SHALL BE RETURNED BY THE CANDIDATE IN PERSON AND SHALL ACCOMPANY A COMPLETED “AFFIDAVIT OF IDENTITY AND RECEIPT OF FILING” FORM.
 
THE AFFIDAVIT OF IDENTITY MUST REFLECT THE CANDIDATES’S NAME AS IT SHOULD APPEAR ON THE BALLOT.  NO NICKNAMES OR TITLES.
 
THE AFFIDAVIT OF IDENTITY MUST BE NOTARIZED.
 
NEW CANDIDATES MUST FILE A “STATEMENT OF ORGANIZATION” FORM WITH THE COUNTY CLERK’S OFFICE. IF YOU HAVE RUN FOR OFFICE IN THE PAST AND HAVE SUBMITTED THIS FORM YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO FILE THIS FORM AGAIN.
